Interested in staff development and culture change, I was responsible for Continuing Professional Development at Berkhamsted from 2013 -2015. I designed the twilight CPD model based on roles within the school and introduced ‘action research’ work with a number of staff conducting projects through the Expansive Education Network.
The Teaching, Learning & Assessment Conference, Berkhamsted (TLAB) was created as a direct result of the Schools History Project’s national History conference and by a desire to bring the best in teaching and learning to staff at Berkhamsted and beyond. It was organised as a non-profit event and brought workshop leaders from a range of schools and different subjects.
A small sample below of the speakers and workshops leaders at previous conferences:
- Dr Bill Rankin, Director of Learning at Apple, Inc
- Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, UCL
- Alastair Smith
- Dr Andy Williams, Executive Head, Holmfirth High School
- Sean Harford, Regional Director, Ofsted
- Dale Banham, Deputy Head and textbook author
In 2014, 69 Maintained schools (62% of delegates) & 34 Independent schools (38%) attended. In 2015, 47.5% of delegates came from Independent schools & 52.5% from Maintained schools.
